MEADVILLE, Pa. (AP) - Several highways and other roads are closed in parts of northwestern Pennsylvania due to flooding caused by heavy rains and runoff.

The state Department of Transportation has listed 20 road closures in Crawford, Erie, Forest, Mercer and Warren counties Friday morning.

Some areas received several inches of rain Thursday, coupled with unseasonably warm temperatures that caused previous snowfalls to melt.

The flooding was less severe in southwestern Pennsylvania where the Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio rivers in and around Pittsburgh were expected to crest slightly above flood stage, meaning some low-lying areas might get wet.

The Mon Wharf parking lot along the Monongahela River was closed in anticipation of the flooding.
