BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama judge has signed orders suspending Charles Henderson as the Jefferson County District Attorney.

Judge Joseph Boohaker signed the orders Saturday and also appointed Danny Carr as the interim county prosecutor.

WBRC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2jkSjpj ) Carr, who currently works in the district attorney’s office, took the oath at the court with Boohaker. He will be commissioned by Secretary of State John Merrill on Tuesday in Montgomery.

Boohaker says Carr will serve as interim DA while the Attorney General’s office prosecutes the felony perjury case against Henderson.

Henderson is accused of giving false testimony in a divorce case in which he served as guardian ad litem for the divorcing couple’s minor child. Defense attorney Jim Parkman says Henderson is innocent and is eager to get to court.
