WOODLAND PARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a body found in the Morris Canal this week has been identified as missing elderly man who suffered from dementia.

Passaic County prosecutors say Thomas Kozell’s death isn’t considered suspicious. But an investigation is ongoing.

They say the 85-year-old Woodland Park man was found on Friday. His family had reported him missing around 7 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities say it appears that Kozell fell from the top of a steep hill on the east side of the canal and suffered head trauma in the accident. The site is about a half-mile from his home.
