FLORENCE, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey State Police are investigating a fatal crash along a stretch of Interstate 295 in Burlington County that claimed the life of a 32-year-old man.

Trooper Alejandro Goez says Joel Rone was killed when his Chevrolet Malibu left the highway and struck several trees in woods near the Florence Township line shortly after 9 a.m. Monday.

It’s unclear what caused Rone to drive off I-295. The crash happened near mile marker 50.

Rone’s vehicle was so badly damaged that its make and model wasn’t immediately apparent.

Goez says Rone was traveling alone and no other cars were involved in the accident.
