NEPTUNE, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a New Jersey man has been charged with attacking and seriously injuring two people with a machete during a street fight in Neptune Township.
Township police Capt. Michael McGhee says an officer arrested 18-year-old Nico Durant early Friday. He faces charges that include aggravated assault in the Thursday night attack.
McGhee says officers responding to a report of a roughly 20-person fight didn’t find the two victims at the scene but learned that they arrived at Jersey Shore University Medical Center with serious injuries not considered life-threatening.
Durant is being held while waiting for a bail hearing. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.
