SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A Sacramento grade school teacher is facing charges of felony attempted possession of child pornography and misdemeanor invasion of privacy by photographing a student under her clothing.

Sacramento police said Friday that 44-year-old Scott MacMillan turned himself in.

Police say MacMillan used his cellphone to photograph a female student beneath a classroom table. They say his phone contained multiple photos of minors and adults that appear to be taken without their knowledge.

MacMillan taught science to several grades at K-8 Heron School.

Natomas Unified School District suspended and moved to dismiss him as soon as officials learned of the allegations in December. He had been employed there since 1998.

MacMillan faces arraignment on Jan. 30.

No attorney was listed for him, and a telephone message was not immediately returned.
