OGDEN, Utah (AP) - Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting near an Ogden convenience store.

Ogden Police Lt. Danielle Croyle says 29-year-old Thomas “TJ” Lovato was booked into the Weber County Jail Monday for suspicion of felony murder.

Croyle says numerous tips came into the Weber Area Dispatch 911 following social media and news reports of the shooting at about 1 a.m. Sunday near the store at 110 Patterson. The 32-year-old victim whose name has not been released was pronounced dead in the parking lot.

Detectives served search warrants based on the leads from the public and located Lovato near 21st Street and Washington Boulevard at about 12:20 a.m. Monday. He was apprehended after a short foot chase.

Croyle says she doesn’t know if Lovato has a lawyer or will be appointed one at his initial court appearance.
