FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - A Florida man charged with shooting his traveling companion and leaving him to die in the woods in Massachusetts has been held without bail.

The Enterprise (https://bit.ly/2ktlEeu ) reports that Arthur Noguera, of Lehigh Acres, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges including murder.

Prosecutors say Noguera and Daniel Smith were traveling in Smith’s car, selling guns and living off $25,000 in stolen money, but their friendship deteriorated.

Authorities say Noguera shot Smith in the back of the head and left him in the woods in Easton on Nov. 8. Two 13-year-old boys found the body. Smith, a former Easton resident living in Florida, died at the hospital.

Noguera was caught in South Carolina days later.

Noguera’s attorney says his client did not kill Smith and pointed out there is no murder weapon.
