CHICAGO (AP) - A 14-year-old Chicago boy has died after being pulled from a high school swimming pool.

Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says the boy, who hasn’t been identified, was pulled from the pool at Kennedy High School on Wednesday before firefighters arrived. The boy was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, where he was pronounced dead.

Chicago police say an investigation is underway into the circumstances of the boy’s death.

Chicago Public Schools spokesman Michael Passman said crisis interveners headed for the school to counsel students.
