KIRBY, Texas (AP) - Investigators say a man on the Texas 10 Most Wanted sex offender list has been captured in a town near San Antonio.

The Texas Department of Public Safety on Friday announced the arrest of 56-year-old Jose Julio Arce (AR’-say) Jr. of San Antonio. Authorities say Arce was arrested Wednesday in Kirby.

A DPS statement says Arce was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender. Records show Arce in 1999 was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl in Bexar (bayr) County and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

He’d been wanted since last July and has a history of failing to register as a sex offender.

Investigators say Arce also has ties to Laredo and has been affiliated with a prison-based gang.
