CROSBY, N.D. (AP) - The trial for a Florida man accused of causing a crash that killed a father and two children in North Dakota’s oil patch has been moved to another county.
A judge has granted a defense request to move William Koehler’s trial from Divide County to McKenzie County. The 49-year-old Koehler is charged with three counts of manslaughter in an August crash that killed Lesley Gunderson and his 2-year-old and 8-year-old daughters. His 4-year-old son suffered serious injuries.
The Williston Herald says (https://bit.ly/2ktcrDZ ) the Chiefland, Florida man is accused of speeding and using his cellphone moments before rear-ending that victims’ car that was stopped for a flagger in a construction zone.
Koehler’s attorney, Tom Slorby, told the judge more than half of potential jurors surveyed knew the victims’ family and thought Koehler was guilty.
