ST. LOUIS (AP) - A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in the shooting death of a retired St. Louis police officer’s son.
Lamont Cambell was sentenced Friday in the July 2011 death of 29-year-old Lenny Gregory III.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/2jG8Rpo ) Cambell was found guilty in October of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. An earlier trial ended in a mistrial.
Cambell has always maintained his innocence.
The only evidence tying Cambell to the shooting was testimony from three people who identified him as having shot Gregory. Police did not find the handgun used to kill Gregory nor any physical evidence against Cambell.
