RENO, Nev. (AP) - A Sparks man faces life in prison without the possibility of parole after being sentenced in a brutal attack in which a woman was stabbed in the throat and severely beaten.

A judge sentenced 32-year-old David Logue on Thursday in the Aug. 10 attack at a Sparks apartment complex.

Logue pleaded guilty in November to attempted murder, kidnapping, battery by strangulation with intent to commit sexual assault and attempted sexual assault with use of a deadly weapon.

According to prosecutors, the victim feigned death and later identified Logue as the attacker.

Prosecutors said Logue claimed he had a drug-induced blackout but that evidence showed he had fantasized about raping the victim.

District Attorney Chris Hicks called Logue a “vicious and repugnant criminal” and said the attack shocked the community.
