WASHINGTON (AP) - A New Jersey Republican congressman is speaking out about President Donald Trump’s ban on travelers from seven Muslim-majority nations.

U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance said in a statement Sunday night that while he supports increased vetting of people applying to travel from countries with extremist activity, the president’s current travel ban “appears rushed and poorly implemented.”

Lance says reports of green card holders and those who fought for our country being denied or delayed entry is “deeply concerning and must be remedied immediately.”

He’s urging Trump to work with lawmakers to “enact a clear, effective and enhanced vetting and monitoring process.”

Lance’s congressional district includes parts of Essex, Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Union and Warren counties.
