STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A Starkville man previously arrested for sexual battery is now charged with knowingly exposing another person to HIV.
The Commercial Dispatch (https://bit.ly/2kcQzzB) reports that James D. Sudduth was charged Friday under a state law banning knowing exposure of another to a sexually transmitted disease.
Sudduth, 33, was previously arrested in December, accused of engaging in oral sex with a 12-year-old on Dec. 22 in a hospital bathroom.
The new charge is a felony carrying a prison term of three to 10 years. The sexual battery charge carries a sentence of 20 years to life.
It’s unclear if Sudduth has a lawyer to speak for him. He remains confined in the Oktibbeha County Jail, with bail now set at $200,000.
Sudduth is scheduled to appear Monday in Starkville Municipal Court.
