CLINTON, S.C. (AP) - A group working to identify and preserve land near Revolutionary War battlefield sites in South Carolina plans to hold an informational meeting in Clinton.

The Herald Journal of Spartanburg reports (https://bit.ly/2kIEvCu) the Upstate Battlefield Preservation Group will meet Tuesday to discuss properties around Cowpens National Battlefield, Kings Mountain National Military Park and Musgrove Mill State Historic Site.

The executive director of the Spartanburg Area Conservancy is Andrew Water, who says the National Park Service gave the group $32,000. The group will use the money hire a consultant, map the areas located near the battlefields and provide information to landowners with property near the battlefields on what conservation easements might be available.

The meeting will be held at the Musgrove Mill State Historic Site. Online registration is requested at https://scbattlefieldmeeting.eventbrite.com.
