PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities have released the names of two sisters struck and killed while crossing a northeast Philadelphia boulevard over the weekend.

Police say a 19-year-old Kimberly Phillips and 10-year-old Loraya Braxton were crossing Roosevelt Boulevard shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday when they were hit by a Jeep Wrangler traveling south at high speed.

Police said the vehicle was approaching the intersection as the light was turning from green to yellow and “swerved into the left lane and accelerated to beat the light.”

Phillips died at the scene. Braxton was pronounced dead early Sunday at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

Forty-eight-year-old Kenneth Ruch was charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and involuntary manslaughter; court documents don’t list an attorney and a listed number for him couldn’t be found Monday.
