LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Department of Education is recommending that the Blytheville School District and 10 schools throughout the state be removed from the list of academically distressed schools.

The department says the Blytheville district and the schools have made sufficient gains on state tests to lose the academic-distress label. The 10 schools are: Belair Middle School in Pine Bluff, Blytheville High School, Dermott High School, J.A. Fair and McClellan high schools in Little Rock, Jacksonville Middle School, Little Rock Preparatory Academy Elementary, Mineral Springs High School, Pine Bluff High School and Watson Chapel High School.

The State Board of Education will vote on the recommendations Feb. 9.
