EL MONTE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have arrested two people they say damaged a dozen cars during a police chase in El Monte.

Police say the chase began around 11 a.m. Friday when officers tried to pull over a Cadillac DeVille for a traffic violation.

During the chase, the Cadillac hit two other cars before it was blocked by traffic at a stoplight.

Police say the driver tried to weave through the jam, damaging 10 other cars before the Cadillac was disabled.

The driver then got out and tried to steal a car with two people inside but was arrested inside that car.

Another person was arrested in the Cadillac.

Police say there didn’t appear to be any serious injuries but two elderly people were taken to hospitals for observation.
