FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Fayetteville police say a man in a wheelchair has been charged in connection with a robbery and assault involving a Taser and a baseball bat.

The Fayetteville Observer reports (https://bit.ly/2iVUTj4) an arrest warrant says 51-year-old Ronnie Earl Whitaker approached 51-year-old Edgar Irizarry at a street corner, taking his money and cellphone. Police say Irizarry was not injured.

In the special considerations section of the warrant, it’s noted that Whitaker is confined to a wheelchair.

Whitaker was charged Wednesday with robbery with a dangerous weapon. The warrant said his bail was set at $50,000, and it’s not known if he has an attorney. The alleged assault occurred last Sunday.
