STANARDSVILLE, Va. (AP) - Virginia state troopers say one man is dead after a car wreck in Greene County.

Police say the wreck occurred just after noon on Saturday. Police say a motorists lost control while trying to negotiate a sharp turn on Preddy Creek Road, ran off the road and overturned in a creek with waters up to five feet deep. Moments later a second motorist was coming around the bend, noticed the car in the water and stopped to help.

Shortly after, 40-year-old Ryan Spencer crashed his Cadillac into the second motorist’s vehicle, ran off the road and overturned in the same creek. Spencer was rushed to the hospital where he died of his injuries. The driver and passenger from the first crash were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
