GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - A fast-moving fire that damaged several buildings at a Camden County apartment complex has temporarily displaced about 50 residents.

The fire at the Lakeview apartments in Gloucester Township was reported shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say no residents were hurt in the fire, but a police officer was treated for an undisclosed minor injury.

The fire apparently started in a bedroom in a third-floor unit of one building and soon spread to other nearby buildings. Township police soon arrived and helped several residents safely evacuate the smoky conditions.

Several area fire companies responded and were soon able to extinguish the blaze.

Authorities say the fire appears to have been accidental, but the investigation is ongoing.

The displaced residents, including several children, are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
