ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) - Registration is open for teams of Vermont middle and high school students to put their culinary skills to the test in the annual junior iron chef competition.

The event takes place March 18 at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction.

Organizers say teams will be challenged to create healthy and delicious meals from local ingredients that will inspire school lunch menus.

Teams must consist of three to five students in 6th through 8th grade or 9th through 12th grade.

Applications will be accepted until Jan. 24 and registration is limited to the first 72 teams.

More information about the contest is available online at www.jrironchefvt.org.
