CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say there were no human remains inside a Chandler funeral home when it caught fire and sustained heavy damage, but several already cremated bodies were affected.

An investigator for the Arizona Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers says no human remains were burned in the blaze late Sunday at Valley of the Sun Mortuary.

But later Monday, Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say several already cremated bodies were affected. They didn’t immediately have an exact number, however.

Sheriff’s officials say arson investigations are on the scene, but the fire doesn’t appear to be suspicious.

Chandler Fire officials say the fire burned so intensely that crews couldn’t enter the business.

Instead, they had to attack it with ladder trucks and hand-held hoses.

Three-fourths of the funeral home’s roof was burned.
