KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in southwestern Michigan have released the name of a 74-year-old woman who died after a fire broke out in a senior apartment complex and displaced residents.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officials say Barbara Posey of Kalamazoo was rescued early Saturday from a seventh-floor balcony of the nine-story Crosstown Parkway Senior Community Apartments building. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.

Fire officials say the blaze was contained to the seventh-floor unit, where they saw heavy smoke and fire.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports up to 150 residents were evacuated and need alternative housing. A majority of the residents were lodged in hotels or with family. A temporary shelter also has been established in the downstairs level of the YMCA.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
