TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Another state senate panel has approved a measure that proponents say would shorten lines at Motor Vehicle Commission offices.

The Transportation Committee on Monday approved a bill that changes driver’s license expiration dates from the last day of the month every four years to the driver’s birthday.

If a person was born on a day that doesn’t match up with a numerical day in the expiring month, such as Feb. 29, the registration will expire on the last day of that month.

The senate’s Budget Committee had signed off on the measure last November.
