Metropolitan Police have announced the arrest of a Northeast man in the November death of a man who suffered his fatal injuries in a 2014 assault.

Desean Burt, 32, was arrested and charged Monday with second-degree murder in the death of Edward Lee Moore, 52, of Northeast.

Around 9:20 a.m. on May 1, 2014, officers responded to a report of an unconscious male at Fenwick and Okie streets NE, police said. They found Moore, who appeared to have been assaulted.

Moore was taken to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, police said. He succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 30, 2016.

The chief medical examiner determined on March 13 that the cause of death was complications after blunt head and neck trauma, and ruled Moore’s death a homicide.
