SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say one person has been arrested after a fire burned a recently foreclosed Springfield home.
The Springfield News-Leader (https://sgfnow.co/2tidYjB ) reports that the Wednesday afternoon fire is being investigated as a possible arson. Capt. Ron Powell said a man was seen leaving the house at the fire’s outset.
Plastic siding on a house to the west of the fire also melted as firefighters battled the blaze amid temperatures of more than 90 degrees.
A real estate agent who represents the company who owns the home was at the scene and told a fire marshal that the house had recently been foreclosed on. The agent said she was present Monday when a resident of the home had to be evicted.
