NEWFANE, N.Y. (AP) - Police in upstate New York say a pedestrian has died after being hit by a car driven by a woman subsequently charged with driving while impaired by drugs.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office says 33-year-old David McCollum II of Newfane was struck while walking along a road near his home around 11 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the driver, 25-year-old Kara Lynn McDonald of Lockport, was treated for a wrist injury. She was later charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs.



It could not be determined if McDonald has a lawyer to comment.
