MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - A motorcycle crash has left a Tennessee police officer hospitalized.

Murfreesboro Police Sgt. Kyle Evans tells local media that Officer Michael Stern was en route to a call Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a white vehicle.

Murfreesboro Police Chief Karl Durr says Stern was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by ambulance and was being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit. He says Stern was awake and conscious when taken to the hospital.

The people in the vehicle didn’t require medical treatment.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
