GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Police say a New Jersey man fleeing security guards at a shopping outlet was fatally hit by a car when he ran onto a state highway.

New Jersey State Police said in a statement that 25-year-old Donte Bryson, of Sicklerville, was fatally struck by a Chevrolet Blazer on Friday on Route 42 in Gloucester Township.

Police say Bryson was running from security guards from the Gloucester Premium Outlets when he ran into the southbound lanes and was hit by the SUV.

The driver of the Blazer wasn’t hurt in the crash and is cooperating with investigators.

Police say that Bryson was suspected of shoplifting by the security guards

The incident is under investigation.
