DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania appeals court has upheld a contempt judgment against a Republican fundraiser who violated a court order barring her from contacting witnesses in a $20 million fraud case.
Seventy-year-old Claire Risoldi was found in contempt of court last year and ordered to serve 30 days in jail. The Bucks County Courier Times reports (https://bit.ly/2u7Yv7u ) the decision was upheld by three Superior Court judges Monday.
Attorney Jack McMahon, who represents Risoldi, said they will appeal the case to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. McMahon has 30 days to do so.
If that appeal is filed, Risoldi will remain free without bail while the high court decides to hear the case.
Risoldi was charged with insurance fraud after her family’s mansion had three fires in five years. That trial has been delayed.
