INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Authorities say a man shot by sheriff’s deputies after a chase in central Indiana was driving a stolen vehicle and wanted for car theft.
State police say a woman who was in the Chevy Trailblazer told investigators that she was assaulted by the Indianapolis man before the chase.
Shelby County deputies tried to stop the SUV near Interstate 74, southeast of Indianapolis, after 2 a.m. Friday. The chase ended in a rural area, and two deputies fired at the 26-year-old man.
His injuries aren’t considered life-threatening.
