COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri man has been sentenced to 100 years in prison after being convicted on rape, sodomy and attempted sexual assault charges stemming from crimes in 2015 and 2016.
The Columbia Missourian (https://bit.ly/2vrAY1z ) reports that 27-year-old Joanthony Johnson’s sentencing came after testimony from state prosecutor Daniel Knight, Boone County assistant public defender Sarah Aplin and over a dozen witnesses. Johnson waived his right to testify on his own behalf.
Johnson was accused of drugging at least four women at his apartment before having sex with them while they were incapacitated. Authorities say Johnson recorded cellphone videos of some of the assaults.
Knight says he’s satisfied with the sentence and that he has a lot of admiration for the victims who testified.
Aplin declined to comment, citing the potential for appeal.
