PHOENIX (AP) - The Latest on a fatal shooting by Phoenix police (all times local):

10:25 a.m.

Phoenix police say a 35-year-man who shot at police officers before they returned fire and killed him was wanted on a felony warrant in a weapons case.

Sgt. Alan Pfohl says no officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire. It occurred early Wednesday morning during a pursuit after the officers attempted to stop the wanted man as he was riding a bicycle.

Pfohl says the officers were attempting to locate the wanted man when they approached the bicyclist after seeing that he matched the wanted man’s description.

The dead man’s identity and details of the weapons case weren’t released.


7:10 a.m.

Phoenix police say a suspect is dead after shooting at officers who then returned fire.

Sgt. Alan Pfohl says no officers were injured in the incident early Wednesday morning.

Pfohl says the incident occurred when officers approached the suspect as he rode a bicycle.

Pfohl says the suspect opened fire and that both officers returned fire, shooting and killing the man.

The shooting occurred at about 1 a.m. in north Phoenix near the intersection of North 35th Avenue and West Greenway Road.
