UPTON, N.Y. (AP) - Police are investigating the death of an unidentified person whose body was found in a burned-out car on eastern Long Island.

Authorities said Monday that they made the discovery after responding to a 911 call on Sunday night reporting a car fire on a dead-end street in an industrial park in the hamlet of Upton. Once the fire was put out, they found a body inside that was burned beyond recognition.

Suffolk County Police said they were awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine cause of death. There were no arrests.
