WENDELL, Mass. (AP) - Authorities are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in western Massachusetts.

Police say a warrant has been issued for 53-year-old Lewis Starkey III on murder and assault charges. Starkey is considered armed and dangerous.

Police say officers responded Wednesday to a report of a 48-year-old woman shot in the town of Wendell. The woman, identified as Amanda Glover, later died.

Chicopee police say Starkey is wanted in connection with that killing. They allege he also went to a trucking company in the city and fired at an employee who was behind glass. Police say the worker was cut by shattered glass, but wasn’t shot because Starkey’s weapon malfunctioned.

Authorities say Starkey, of Wendell, is believed to be driving a red car with a Vermont license plate.
