ENCINITAS, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man who is believed to have been involved in a string of California building fires last year has been arrested.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office states 20-year-old Tyler Carender was arrested on Wednesday at a home in Encinitas, not far from where the three fires caused a combined $534,000 in damage.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2sJHXWe ) the fires happened during a three-week span in October and November 2016 at two church buildings and a middle school office. An unidentified man was seen running away from the church at the last of the three fires, leading authorities to believe it was intentionally set.

Prosecutors believe Carender used a Molotov cocktail to set fire to at least one of three structures.
