RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) - Officials say an eastern Indiana city worker was found dead in a wastewater treatment plant tank.

Richmond’s city attorney says the worker’s body was found late Wednesday submerged in a wastewater clarifier tank. The (Richmond) Palladium-Item reports (https://pinews.co/2sK8jHv ) the worker had notified supervisors that he was performing regular maintenance on the tank and emergency workers were notified after he later couldn’t be contacted.

Wayne County Coroner Ron Stevens says an autopsy and toxicology testing are planned to determine what caused the worker’s death. City officials say an investigation into the circumstances will continue.
