FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - Virginia’s largest school district has chosen Lynchburg Superintendent Scott Brabrand as its new leader.

Before taking over in Lynchburg, Brabrand had a long career in Fairfax County schools, including service as an assistant superintendent and principal at Fairfax High School.

The previous superintendent, Karen Garza, resigned in September. Steven Lockard has been serving as interim superintendent.
