David West joined the Golden State Warriors last summer, taking a minimum contract with the hopes of winning a title.

While the 36-year-old forward finally became an NBA champion Monday, he almost was ejected from the Warriors’ 129-120 Game 5 win. Late in the second quarter, West and Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson got into an intense altercation that resulted in technical fouls for both.

But because of how close the two forwards got, the internet had their jokes ready.

Cavs guard J.R. Smith was also given a technical on the play.
