WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A lawyer for a Massachusetts woman facing murder charges after the bodies of three infants were found in her squalid home says he will raise her mental health as an issue in court.
Erika Murray is charged in the deaths of two of three dead babies found in her Blackstone home in September 2014.
Authorities say four living children were also found in the home. They say two of the children- ages 3 years and 5 months at the time -were severely neglected.
The MetroWest Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/2saX87d ) that Murray’s attorney, Keith Halpern, filed a notice of intention to raise Murray’s mental health as an issue in Worcester Superior Court.
Halpern says Murray is “mentally ill.”
Murray has pleaded not guilty to charges that include murder and reckless endangerment.
