GRAYSON, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say they have found the body of pilot who was reported missing after his plane took off from a private strip in central California.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office says 75-year-old Leroy Del Don’s body was found Tuesday in the wreckage of a twin-engine Beechcraft plane in the town of Mountain Ranch.

While Del Don and the plane that was found have not been positively identified, the office says circumstantial evidence shows the wreckage is that of the missing Beechcraft.

Del Don was reported missing by his family late Friday after he didn’t arrive in Columbia Airport. He had flown out from a private airstrip near Grayson.

Officials said the plane was last picked up on radar “a ways off that route.”
