NEW YORK (AP) - The Tenement Museum in New York has named a former Department of Education official to lead as their next president.
Kevin Jennings, who served as then-President Barack Obama’s assistant deputy secretary of education from 2009 to 2011, has been named the museum’s next president just as it completes a new $20 million campaign to install a new permanent exhibition.
The New York Times reports (https://nyti.ms/2rufBPa ) he will be replacing Morris Vogel, who announced he was retiring this summer from the position he’s held since 2008. Under Vogel, the number of visitors to the Tenement Museum has increased from 138,000 per year to about 250,000 per year.
Jennings tells the New York Times he is exploring options to extend the museum’s reach through augmented and virtual reality technology.
