WASHINGTON (AP) - A group of all-terrain vehicle and dirt bike riders have been accused of “reckless behavior” by county authorities in Washington, D.C.’s suburbs.

WTOP-FM reports that videos posted on social media showed the riders Sunday night passing between cars on crowded highways, some popping wheelies, as they went through downtown Washington. They’re also seen revving engines, weaving around cars and hurrying evading pedestrians while driving on sidewalks at National Harbor.

Prince George’s County police say about 100 riders took bikes unauthorized for street-use and engaged in the “egregious and malicious behavior.” Deputy chiefs George Nichols and Chris Murtha say extra patrols will be out, and possibly a police helicopter, looking for similar activity.

Murtha says many of the bikes used are stolen and even ones that aren’t could still be seized.
