PISMO BEACH, Calif. (AP) - A scaffolding collapse at a Central California beach has injured five people, two of them critically.

It happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday south of the Kon Tiki Inn in Pismo Beach.

Nearby residents told KCOY-TV that workers were repairing a cliffside damaged by recent rains when the scaffolding collapsed onto the beach.

Two people were taken to the hospital in critical condition and three had minor injuries, KSBY-TV reported.
