CARLYLE, Ill. (AP) - The state high school bass fishing tournament has been rescheduled for later this month after it was postponed due to high water levels on Carlyle Lake in southern Illinois.

The Illinois High School Association event was planned for May 19 and 20 but had to be put off due to excessive rain throughout the spring. The group now says the competition will be Friday and Saturday June 23 and 24.

The association runs high school sports competitions in Illinois . Association officials say they have let all qualifying teams know about the new date. Schools have until June 9 to confirm if they will participate.

It wasn’t the first time the IHSA has had to postpone the tournament. It was pushed back in 2011 and 2013 when storms produced high water levels.
