CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Chandler say a 3-year-old girl has died after being shot at her family’s home.

They announced the child’s death Friday morning. Her name hasn’t been released yet.

Police say investigators still are trying to determine the circumstances of Thursday night’s shooting.

They say the girl’s 33-year-old father is jailed on suspicion of drug and weapons violations.

Police say the man is a prohibited gun possessor and it’s illegal for him to have a firearm in the home.

The girl’s mother reportedly called 911 after the shooting occurred.
