FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - A drinking water warning in some Pinal County subdivisions over nitrate levels has been lifted.

People in some of those subdivisions were warned Wednesday not to drink their tap water because testing showed high levels of nitrates.

High nitrates can cause infants to become seriously ill.

A well owned by Johnson Utilities showed nitrate levels above the federal standard this week. The well was taken out of service and the public notified.

The warning affected people who live in the Johnson Ranch, Copper Basin, Rancho Bella Vista and Rancho Bella Vista South subdivisions.

Johnson Utilities lifted the warning Friday after new lab tests showed nitrate levels were below the regulatory limit.

The company also is planning a new pipeline to supply the area.
