SPRINGFIELD, Va. (AP) - Police say they are investigating a death at a northern Virginia shopping center.

Local news media outlets report that police found an injured man on the ground at the Springfield Plaza shopping center early Friday. Police say the man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

It was not immediately clear how the man died.

Police say they received a call around the same time about a possible burglary on the other side of the shopping center and found a man trying to break into a business. Police say that man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Fairfax County Police said in a tweet that detectives believe the homicide and burglary are connected. They say the investigation is ongoing.
